Vaughan Robert Hensrud of Calgary, AB, formerly of Kelowna, BC and hometown of Regina, SK, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the age of 71 years.

p goaltender during the 1956-57 and 1957-58 seasons, behind Ken Walters. His first season played one game: 60 minutes, Goals against - 3, while playing in 24 games the following season, 1460 minutes, 80 goals against, 2 shut out and a 3.29 goals against.

Vaughan leaves behind his loving wife Catherine Cathy Hensrud; his children from a previous marriage, Dale and Leslie Hensrud and their families of Regina; step family, Paul and Sheryl Wilcox and Monique Loffler; step grandchildren, Brittany and Jaidan Wilcox and Justine Loffler; as well as sister Diane Demyen, all of Calgary.

He was predeceased by his parents Hank and Jessie Hensrud. A full obituary will follow. No formal service will be held. Interment will be held in Regina, SK at a later date. - Hensrud, Vaughan Robert March 2, 1939 to December 2, 2010. A celebration of Vaughans life will be held on Monday April 25/11 at Victoria Ave. Funeral Home, 2080 Victoria Ave. East Regina, Sk.. Family & Friends wishing to attend burial at Regina Memorial Gardens, meet at 1:15 pm at Victoria Ave. Funeral Home, back parking lot, for procession to burial site, where his urn will be placed with his parents Henry (Hank) and Jessie Hensrud. Rev. Fr. Brad Fahlman officiating. A memorial gathering for family and friends to follow at 2:00 pm at Victoria Ave. Funeral Home.

Vaughan passed on Dec.2/10 in the ICU at Rockyview Gen. Hosp. Calgary, Ab.. He is survived by his loving wife Cathy Hensrud (nee: Bast) and step-family Monique Loffler & her daughter Justine, Paul (Sheryl) Wilcox and their children Brittany & Jaidan. Vaughan is also survived by a sister Diane (David) Demyen, all of Calgary. He also leaves behind a son Dale (Teresa) and their daughters Kristen (Rae) Torrie & Brittany; a daughter Leslie (Brad Johns) and their daughters MaKenzie, Stevie, Abby & Sunny of Regina and Lumsden; as well as many extended family members.

Vaughan played in goal for the Regina Pats 1956-57 and 1957-58, going to the Memorial Cup against the Ottawa-Hull Canadiens on April 25/58 in Ottawa. The 1958-59 season saw him playing for the Estevan Bruins. He continued playing hockey in Regina, Kelowna B.C., and Calgary Ab. until 2008. In 1978 Vaughan started Industrial Scale Service, but was forced to retire in 1995 due to complications suffered from the onset of diabetes in the early 1980s, resulting in severe atherosclerosis and devastating stroke.
