REGINA PATS and MOOSE JAW WARRIORS

ALUMNI FIRST
TWO GAMES

First of all an short summary of the last two Trans-Canada Clashes:

Saturday afternoon, February, 9, 2008, at the Regina Brandt Centre, Regina Pats Alumni edged the Moose Jaw Warriors Alumni 3-2 in the Trans-Canada Clash. It was the second time the two clubs played against each other.

The previous year, in Moose Jaw, on Saturday afternoon, January 27, 2007, the Pats won in a wide open affair 10-9 on Kurt Wickenheiser's last minute winning goal.

The 2008 game at Regina, a paid attendance of 5,657 saw both clubs put on a solid performance. It was fast skating, five solid body checks, plus sticks getting up high.

Moose Jaw Warriors took a 1-0 lead after the first period as Kevin Smyth beat Pats goalie Rod Houk at 8:19 on Theo Fleury's assist.

Pats Darrin McKechnie tied the contest at 5:17 of the second period assisted by Frank Kovacs. Derek Kletzel gave Moose Jaw a 2-1 lead at 16:51 of the second period.

Regina Pats scored back-to-back goals in the third period. (Derek Eberle scored assisted by Kurt Wickenheiser, then came Brian Varga's winning goal at the mid point of the period.) The game was broadcast on CKRM . Two oldies, Kevin Gallant (Pat's announcer from 1980-1988) and Mal Isaac (1967-1974) called the play-by-play of the game.
