OBITUARY: 

ERIC ROBINSON "COWBOY" PETTINGER

14 DECEMBER 1904 - 24 DECEMBER 1968

Professional Hockey Player. A native of North Brierley, England. H was third of four Pettingers to play for the Regina Pats, preceded by Bill and Dick, followed by brother Gord,  Gord played three seasons with the Regina Pats (1921-1924). Advanced to the 1922 Memorial Cup and lost to Fort William Canadiens.

Eric played the position of Left Wing and Center for the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins from 1928 to 1929, Toronto Maple Leafs from 1928 to 1930, and the Ottawa Senators from 1930 to 1931. He was head coach of the University of  Ontario  hockey team in the CIAU from 1937 to 1938. 


His total NHL hockey career included playing in 102 games, scoring eight goals and adding 12 assists for 20 points. Pettinger settled in Wallaceburg, Ontario, and coached there with the Junior "B" team beginning in 1952, and also worked for the Dominion Glass Company. He passed away in December 1968, ten days after his 64th birthday.
