Pats and Giants go head to head on Sportsnet's Friday Night Hockey

Regina Pats Web Site: The Pats and Giants come together for their one and only meeting of 2012-13.  Last season’s match-up in Regina saw the Giants take a 4-1 victory over the Pats.  Regina comes into the contest having won three straight on home ice while dropping three in a row on the road.  The Giants come in after taking a 4-3 shootout win over Prince George.  Tonight’s game can be heard on 620 CKRM starting with the Press Box Sports Bar Pre-Game Show at 6:35 p.m.  The game will also be televised on Sportsnet.

The game went into a shut out as it took 8 shoots to decide. Vancouver's Foster scored and it was up to Sylvegard, but he lost the puck.

First Period:  Vancouver scores the first goal as Trevor Cheek took the rebound.  He skated down the middle of the ice and scored on a back hand at 16:01, assisted by Jackson Houck and Carter Popoff.  Regina Pats had a chance near the end of the period. With a 5 on 3 power play, Morgan Klimchuk hit the goal post.

Second Period: Vancouver Giants go up 2-0 as Kale Kessy skates down the wing and scores off the goal post at 4:42, assisted by Dalton Sward.  Regina Pats came right back and Morgan Klimchuk passed to Lane Scheidl who scored on a back hand shot at 11:24.  With only two minutes remaining Pats Morgan Klimchuk hits his second post of the game. This time it resulted in a goal.  Kyle Burroughs skates in and scores on his own rebound at 18:01. Kyle's first goal of the season.

Score: Regina 2 - Vancouver 2; Shots: Regina 10 - Vancouver 10

Third Period:  A bad turn over by Regina resulted in Vancouver Kale Kessy scoring a short handed goal at 7:16.  With just 54 seconds remaining in the period Morgan Klimchuk gets a pass from behind the net and secores to the tie the game and force overtime. Assisted by Lane Scheild and Dyson Stevenson.
