Regina Pats get a 2-1 victory in Overtime over Kamloops

Pats look to keep point streak rolling against Blazers

Regina Pats Web Site:  As with the rest of the teams the Pats face on their swing through B.C., this will be the lone meeting of the 2012-13 campaign between the Pats and Blazers.  Last season’s contest saw the Pats come out on top with an 8-4 victory at the Brandt Centre.  The Pats head into their matchup with the top team in the WHL with points in their last four games while the Blazers hold a 10-1-0-0 record on home ice.  Tonight’s game can be heard on 620 CKRM starting with the Press Box Sports Bar Pre-Game Show at 8:35 p.m.  CST

The Pats are into the final leg of their tour through the B.C. Division.  The annual swing during the Canadian Western Agribition in Regina started in Vancouver and Victoria before the second leg in Prince George, Kamloops and Kelowna.  The Pats sit 1-0-0-2 on the trip.

This will be the biggest test for the Pats yet, Kamloops  already has 39 points and are the top team in the WHL.  Regina Pats goaltender with 40 saves, was the big hero, while Lane Scheidl scored both Pat goals.

Goaltenders: Regina - Teagan Sacher; Kamloops - Taran Kozun

First Period:  No Scoring - Regina Pats had a 4 minute power play, only Morgan Klimchuk came close, hitting the outside of the goal post.

Second Period:  No Scoring - Once again, Regina had a chance, a turn over at the mid point of the period.  Colton Mayor went in, took a back hand that went over the net.

Third Period: Kamloops got on the score board first as Tim Bozon scored as Pats Thacker went down on a butter fly save, but the puck got by him at 6:25, assisted by J.C. Lipon and Jordan Thomson.  Just over 5 minutes later Regina Pats Lane Scheidl scored on Colby Williams rebound shot at 11:34, also assisted by Morgan Klimchuk.

Overtime:  Regina Pats Lane Scheidl gets the puck and both Kamloop defenceman fall at the Blazers blue line and goes in and takes a snap shot to the top corner at 2:07.
