The WHL club erupted for three unanswered goals in the third period on Tuesday night, skating to a 6-3 playoff win over the Red Deer Rebels before 6,247 fans at the Brandt Centre After opening the series with a pair of one-goal losses in Red Deer, the Pats broke loose in Game 3 with some timely scoring on home ice. “We haven’t really changed anything in our game,” said head coach/GM John Paddock, whose team outshot the Rebels 40-28.

“We played the same way in Red Deer. All three games have been tied going into the third period. You can’t get any closer than that. (You just have to) keep playing right, keep playing hard and fast, and let the chips fall where they may.” With Tuesday’s victory, the Pats are now on the board in their best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinal, trimming Red Deer’s lead to 2-1.
